Antognolla Golf named Italy's Best Club by the people who count most - The players

Antognolla Golf, the jewel nestled in the hills of the stunning Umbrian countryside, has further cemented its place among Europe’s finest golfing destinations after being voted the Best Golf Club in Italy by the people whose opinion matter the most – the players.

Antognolla Golf, with its beautifully crafted Robert Trent Jones Jnr-designed par 71 golf course, came out top in the poll of 1000s of players across Europe in the Golfers’ Choice Awards run by the highly regarded Dutch-based consumer platform Leading Courses.

Known for its breathtaking natural beauty and challenging course design, Antognolla Golf captivated enthusiasts from 16 countries across Europe who voted it both the Best Golf Club and ranked it first in the Best Maintenance category.

The latest recognition of Antognolla as one of Europe’s must-play destinations for golf travellers the world over follows its success at the World Golf Awards in December when it was named Italy’s best course for a third time by industry specialists.

César Burguière, Director of Golf at Antognolla, said: “This accolade means a lot to the team at Antognolla Golf and is testament to their continued dedication, because it’s awarded by the people who have come here and enjoyed first-hand the amazing golf experience we have.
Every year we receive more recognition and more people across the world are beginning to see what a spectacular course and venue this is. It makes us even more determined to improve every aspect of our offering and continue our pursuit of excellence.”

Antognolla Golf underwent extensive renovations in 2018, including bunker upgrades and state-of-the-art drainage systems, changes which have been recognised by visitors, as the course sits as Italy’s best-maintained golf course in the Leading Courses rankings.

Antognolla Golf is also committed to preserving both the beauty of the sport and environmental sustainability, and this dedication has been rewarded by the Leading Courses polls. In recent years, major investments have been made to upgrade the bunkers as well as the irrigation and drainage systems to make the course more sustainable and playable year-round. In 2021, the course first received GEO certification in recognition of its commitment to sustainable practices and was again awarded the prized recognition earlier this year.

Set against the backdrop of the stunning Umbrian valley, the exclusive Six Senses Antognolla retreat of which Antognolla Golf is a part promises world-class facilities and contemporary design, including beautifully appointed residences throughout the estate.
